Establish "Continue Education Program" during ITU

On the 7th December 2006, during the period of ITU, International ICT Council announced to establish “Continuous Education Program” that replace traditional renewal system when certifications expire. Such program is expected to be in practice in early 2007.

In order to reduce the expenses of taking renewal examination, all certification holders will have one more option to renew his certification. They can undertake a program called “Continuous Professional Education” during the certification period.  The program established is aligned with a sophisticated policy, with clear renewal process, number of credits required, and administrative procedure etc.

Certification holders are require to perform different activities related to information technology in order to gain credits before the certification expires. If the holders successfully obtain 30 credits before the certification expires, he is able to renew his certification and the old one will be archived.

The type of continuous education include many different learning activities, such as attending seminars, exhibitions, conducting research etc., which helps candidates to learn more in an interesting way. Once the cetification holders complete each item, a number of credits will be given. Compare to traditional way of taking examination for renewal, “Continuous Professional Education” provides variety of learning experiences that helps candidates to keep up with trends and technological advancement.  Certification holders can then enrich their knowledge in a more interesting way.

Each ICT Certification validates only three years, starting from the beginning of the following year after obtaining the certification. This is to ensure the ability and skills owned by the certification holders are of high qualities. Besides, it is not an unusual scene to see the trends and knowledge in technological world is advancing day by day. It is necessary for people to catch up recent skills.
